Parent Coaching
There's a reason for the saying "it takes a village to raise a child." Parenting is tough work. In an age where there are so many competing demands on parents, so many mixed messages and so little support, it's no wonder so many families are struggling.
Parent Coaching Services are available individually and in a group setting through The Attuned Village. We can help you move from drained, overwhelmed and confused to confident, at ease and fulfilled in your parenting role. What Can a Parent Coach Do to Help?
Parent coaches begin by understanding your unique situation—your child's temperament and challenges, your family dynamics, and your parenting goals. We assess what's working, what's not, and what factors might be influencing your child's behaviour or your family's stress.
Based on this assessment, your parent coach will provide:
Education about child development, temperament, and neurodiversity
Concrete strategies tailored to your child's specific needs and your family's values
Support in implementing new approaches consistently
Troubleshooting when strategies aren't working as expected
Processing of your own emotional responses and parenting triggers
Accountability and encouragement as you make changes
Connection to resources and additional supports when needed
Parent coaching sessions may be with one or both parents, and occasionally may include brief check-ins with your child to better understand their perspective.
Specialized Support for Specific Challenges
Many parents seek coaching when their child has been diagnosed with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, anxiety, or other neurodevelopmental or mental health challenges. Our parent coaches have specialized training to support parents of neurodiverse children, helping you understand your child's unique wiring and respond in ways that build on their strengths.
We also support parents navigating:
Highly sensitive or intense children
Picky eating and mealtime struggles
Sleep challenges
Sibling conflict
School refusal or academic difficulties
Behavioural challenges and emotional dysregulation
Transitions and life changes
Who is Parent Coaching for?
Parent coaching is for any parent who wants to feel more confident, connected, and effective in their parenting role. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from coaching—many parents simply want to be proactive and intentional about how they're raising their children.
Parent coaching is particularly helpful if:
You're feeling overwhelmed, drained, or unsure of what to do
Your child's behaviour is challenging and traditional approaches aren't working
You want to strengthen your connection with your child
You're parenting a neurodivergent child and need specific strategies
You and your co-parent have different parenting approaches
You're repeating patterns from your own childhood that you want to change
You want to prevent problems before they escalate
You simply want reassurance that you're doing a good job
Investing in parent coaching is one of the most powerful ways to support your child's development and your family's well-being.
How’s it different?
How is Parent Coaching Different from Family Therapy?
Parent coaching is focused on skill-building, education, and strategy development. It's goal-oriented and practical, helping you develop specific parenting techniques and approaches. Sessions are typically less frequent than therapy and may be time-limited based on specific goals.
Family therapy takes a deeper look at family dynamics, relationships, and emotional patterns. It often involves processing past experiences and addressing systemic issues within the family.
Both have value, and many families benefit from a combination of both. If deeper relational or emotional work is needed, we may recommend family therapy in addition to or instead of parent coaching.
Our Approach
Our parent coaching approach is strength-based, evidence-informed, and designed to make change achievable, not overwhelming.
We recognize that you know your child better than anyone else. Our role isn't to tell you what to do—it's to partner with you, share knowledge, and help you find approaches that align with your values and work for your unique family.
Individualized & Flexible
Every family is different, and we tailor our coaching to your specific situation, goals, and parenting style.
Strengths-Based
We help you identify what's already working and build from there, celebrating your successes along the way.
Neurodiversity-Affirming
We honor all children's unique wiring and help parents understand and support neurodivergent children with compassion and effective strategies.
Accessible & Practical
We provide tools and strategies you can implement immediately, with ongoing support to help you stay on track.
Parent coaching isn't just about managing behaviour—it's about building the deep, joyful connection with your child that makes parenting rewarding and helps children flourish.
